2025 Nissan Armada: More Power, More Tech, Same Bold SUV

Nissan has finally upgraded its largest SUV, giving us the 2025 Nissan Armada with a new powertrain and several significant changes.

Out with the old; in with the new! The Armada follows the lead of other automakers by ditching its old V8 engine in favor of a new system. This big Nissan SUV still has several trim levels to choose from, giving you the features and qualities desired to experience and amazing drive and the desirable qualities that make it easy to take a large family for a drive.

Here’s what you’ll get when you choose the new 2025 Nissan Armada.

Nissan Armada Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Strong twin-turbo V6 engine
  • Handles well for a big SUV
  • Luxurious interior without the luxury SUV price tag

Cons

  • Occasionally jittery ride quality
  • Engine is loud at idle
  • Not as spacious inside as some rivals

Does the Armada seem familiar?

The latest version of the Nissan Armada has been completely redesigned and shared more with the Nissan Patrol, sold in other global markets, than ever before. Two new trims have been added to give you more choices. These trims are Pro-4X, which has been popular in the Frontier and Titan, and Platinum Reserve, which sits at the top of the lineup.

The biggest change to this Nissan SUV

The most significant change to the 2025 Nissan Armada is found under the hood. The V8 engine is gone and in its place resides a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine that produces 425 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. That means the engine got smaller, but it produces 25 more horsepower and 103 more lb-ft of torque. This new engine mates to a 9-speed automatic transmission and can be set up with either RWD or 4WD to give you power where you need it.

The fuel mileage for the new Armada matches the luxury Infiniti QX80 with 16 city/20 hwy mpg. This is on par with other full-size SUVs but still not as impressive as some midsize models. The Armada can still tow up to 8,500 pounds with this new powertrain, which is more than enough to pull a heavy boat or trailer to your destination.

Improved driving experience

Nissan added features to this new full-size SUV to make it much smoother on the road. Some of these items include an available height-adjustable air suspension and a locking rear differential for 4WD models. This new version has better acceleration than the outgoing model, and it gives you a much nicer ride with excellent handling on most roads.

What you’ll find in the cabin

Every version of the 2025 Nissan Armada is a three-row SUV with space and seating for passengers and cargo. You can have either seven or eight seats, depending on the configuration chosen. The second row can be had with captain’s chairs to make this area more comfortable. The third-row seats fold automatically at the touch of a button in the higher trims. The Platinum Reserve is the nicest of the group, giving you quilted leather upholstery and a luxury feeling for your drive.

Check out the Armada screens

Every model of this full-size Nissan SUV comes standard with two 12.3-inch screens that stretch across the dashboard. The left screen is the digital gauge cluster, giving you the readings you need while driving. The infotainment screen is in the center of the dashboard. You can have a larger 14.3-inch screen in higher trims, making it easier to see your icons and information. The Google built-in apps are optional, but wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone-mirroring functions are standard. You’ll also find a 12-speaker Klipsch stereo system that comes in the SL, Pro-4X, and Platinum models.

Nissan equips every Amada with the Safety Shield 360 safety package that gives you:

  • Blind-spot monitoring
  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Lane-departure warning
  • Lane-keeping assist
  • Adaptive cruise control with hands-free driving

You can also add a hands-free driving assistant called ProPilot Assist 2.1 to make your highway driving experience more calm and enjoyable.

Which Armada should you buy?

The 2025 Nissan Armada that provides the best value is the SL model. This trim has a premium audio system, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, power-folding third-row seats, and a power liftgate. These are excellent features for the drive, and if you want a 4WD version, you’ll only pay an additional $3,000. This feature is only standard on the off-road-oriented Pro-4X trim but could be a worthy addition to your Armada.
